The course will be held in English at the University of Ottawa (550, rue Cumberland, Ottawa, Ontario) and consists of two intensive 5-day sessions.
The curriculum combines theoretical modules with practical design exercises and laboratory testing.

The aim of the module is to offer knowledge about the wood material, the structural concept behind the design, calculation codes, design of structural elements.

The aim of the course is to offer a more specific and high level knowledge than the previous one, with in-depth studies on CLT structures, Timber Frame, durability.

FAQ
What are the application deadlines?
The application deadline is 28th September 2026 for the FIRST SESSION and FULL PACKAGE, and 12th April 2027 for the SECOND SESSION.
Can I register for only one session?
Yes, you can also register for a single session by choosing between winter or summer session.
What is included in the price?
The price includes participation in the course, accommodation, coffe-breaks, lunches on all course days and 3 dinners. Transport between the hotel and the course venue is also included, as well as transfers to the dinner locations.
What is not included?
Travel costs from your home country to the hotel are not included. Additionally, dinners on the two free evenings are at your own expense.
How long does the course last?
The complete course consists of 2 sessions of 30 hours each spread over 5 days (Mon-Fri): one in winter and one in summer.
What happens if I cannot participate?
First session and full pack: if you cancel before - you will receive a full refund. After this date, 50% of the fee will be retained.
Second session: if you cancel before -, you will receive a full refund. After this date, 50% of the fee will be retained.
When do I have to pay for the course?
Payment must be made upon receipt of the invoice, which will be issued within 2 weeks of registration.
What knowledge is required to attend the course?
A basic knowledge of structures is recommended. Prior experience with timber structures is not required, as the course starts with basic topics and goes through to more advanced design concepts.
Will I have the opportunity to meet the speakers and other participants?
Yes, in addition to the course, several networking activities will be organised both during the course days and on some selected evenings.
