SELF-TAPPING SCREWS FOR FRAMES ON MASONRY WITH CYLINDRICAL HEAD MBS | MBZ

MBS | MBZ: self-tapping screws for frames in PVC and timber

MBS | MBZ self-tapping screws for frames are specifically designed for the direct fastening of window and door frames and subframes onto solid and semi-solid materials: natural stone, solid and hollow concrete, lightweight and aerated concrete, solid brick and hollow brick.

The main difference lies in the head geometry: the countersunk head of the MBS allows installation of PVC frames without damaging the frame profile, while the cylindrical head of the MBZ penetrates and remains recessed in timber frames, making it the ideal solution for solid timber applications.
Thanks to the HI-LOW thread, these self-tapping screws ensure secure fastening even close to the edge of the substrate, reducing stress within the material during installation. Through-fastening allows uniform load distribution across the supporting structure.

Description

Technical characteristics of self-tapping screws for frames

MBS | MBZ self-tapping screws for frames are manufactured from electro-galvanised carbon steel, ensuring durability and corrosion resistance. The HI-LOW thread is a key design feature: this geometry reduces contact pressure within the substrate, allowing secure fastening even near edges without compromising structural integrity.

Resistance performance in different substrates has been tested by the IFT Rosenheim Institute for Window and Façade Technology, one of Europe’s leading certification centres for window and frame components. The MBS version with countersunk head allows installation of PVC frames without damaging the frame profile. This ensures documented reliability for these turbo screws for framing under real service conditions.

These self-tapping timber screws are suitable for use in solid and semi-solid materials, performing effectively in service classes SC1 and SC2. The self-tapping capability allows direct use on masonry substrates without pre-drilling, reducing frame installation time and minimising the margin for error on site. These turbo screws for framing ensure stable anchorage in all application conditions.

Which self-tapping screw for timber frames: MBS or MBZ?

For timber frames, the correct choice is MBZ with cylindrical head, designed to penetrate and remain recessed in solid timber. MBS with countersunk head is intended for PVC and aluminium frames, where the low-profile head prevents damage to the frame profile.
