SELF-ADHESIVE WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE FOR STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS DEFENCE ADHESIVE

The self-adhesive membrane for the construction site protection of timber and CLT

DEFENCE ADHESIVE is a transparent self-adhesive membrane for protecting timber structural elements during transport and on site. Among temporary waterproofing membrane solutions, it combines water- and air-tightness with good vapour permeability — Sd 2.5 m — helping any trapped moisture to dry out. Ideal for prefabrication: application to the panel off site maximises construction site protection during transport and installation. Non-slip and resistant to abrasion and foot traffic.

Construction site protection is guaranteed for 12 weeks. Certified to EN 13984.

Description

Technical data for DEFENCE ADHESIVE self-adhesive membrane

DEFENCE ADHESIVE is a solvent-free self-adhesive membrane made from EVA and PP non-woven fabric, with a mass per unit area of 220 g/m² and a thickness of 0.3 mm.
Once installed, it is virtually invisible: its transparency allows chalk line markings and installation holes on the panel to remain visible.
It can be repositioned during the first few minutes after application.

Key technical specifications (EN 13984):

— Water vapour permeability Sd: 2.5 m (EN 1931)
— Tensile strength MD/CD: > 120/80 N/50 mm (EN 12311-1)
— Resistance to nail tearing MD/CD: > 60/65 N
— Water tightness: compliant (EN 1928) · Air permeability: < 0.02 m³/(m²h50Pa)
— Reaction to fire: Class E (EN 13501-1) · Fire resistance on 120 mm CLT joint: EI 90 (EN 1363-4)
— UV stability: 336 h (3 months) · Weather exposure: 12 weeks
— Application temperature: +5/+25 °C · Storage temperature: -5/+35 °C

Membrane impermeabilizzanti autoadesive per elementi in legno: come si applicano?

DEFENCE ADHESIVE is applied directly to timber, CLT or OSB panels from +5 °C. The pre-cut release film is removed during installation, the membrane bonds by contact and can be repositioned during the first few minutes.

Self-adhesive membrane for construction site protection of CLT: how long does it last?

Protection of structural elements is guaranteed for 12 weeks of weather exposure. DEFENCE ADHESIVE is waterproof, airtight, yet vapour permeable — Sd 2.5 m — and resists abrasion and foot traffic on site. It is available in widths from 0.385 m to 1.55 m and, on request, in customised widths.

Construction site protection for timber panels: why choose a transparent membrane?

The transparency of DEFENCE ADHESIVE allows chalk line markings and installation holes to remain visible without removing the membrane, avoiding interruptions during construction work. The non-slip surface maintains safety when walking on installed elements.

Description

The membrane can be used for temporary protection, rather than as a long-term functional layer, of construction elements (walls and floors) for a maximum duration of 12 weeks.

The application surface must be dry, free of dust and grease, and not be anti-adhesive. Surface elements must be removed so that the membrane is not damaged during application.

Once applied, the product allows for easy visibility of powder tracer markings and underlying mounting holes.

Recommended use: direct UV protection is guaranteed. Installation is therefore permitted on both the internal and external sides of the building envelope.

Installation: Unroll the membrane over the surface to be protected, progressively remove the release film from the adhesive, and press the membrane firmly to ensure proper adhesion. In case of a mistake during installation, the membrane can be repositioned and reapplied without difficulty during the first few minutes.

Ensure that the overlap between the membranes is at least 10 cm to achieve an optimal seal.

If installed on walls, the membrane must be laid horizontally, starting from the base of the wall and progressing upwards to the top.

Further details regarding installation can be found in the specific instructions provided by the supplier.
