Horizontal lifeline with fast installation on any substrate
PATROL fall protection equipment is a modular fall protection system designed to create horizontal lifelines, overhead systems or façade-mounted lifelines, in both pass-through and non-pass-through configurations. The simple design allows fast installation on timber, metal or concrete substrates thanks to dedicated supports for each structural surface and a wide range of accessories that meet all project requirements.
The PATROL system does not use crimped fastenings, allowing all components to be installed with standard tools without the need for expensive crimping or crimp inspection equipment. The double end element, which functions as both an absorber and tensioner, facilitates cable assembly and well-distributed tensioning, even on long lines with multiple curves. Components are assembled easily in just a few steps thanks to the installation manual with detailed assembly diagrams and online installation videos.
The PATROL horizontal lifeline system provides maximum spans between supports up to 15 metres thanks to the SPEAREVO absorber-tensioner, which reduces loads on end elements and structural fastenings, improving overall reliability of the fall protection system.
**Technical features and inspection controls of the PATROL roof lifeline system
The PATROL system is equipped with SPEAR and SPEAREVO end elements with integrated springs on both ends, allowing the system to compensate for cable expansion caused by temperature fluctuations between summer and winter, protecting supports from structural damage. This feature is essential for installations on flat roofs or façades exposed to significant thermal variation, where uncontrolled expansion could create excessive stress on structural fastenings.
The energy absorption capability of the PATROL fall protection system, managed by the SPEAREVO absorber-tensioner, allows maximum spans up to 15 metres while significantly reducing loads on end elements and anchors. This technical advantage results in lower installation costs and greater design flexibility for long roof lifeline systems on extended roofs or façades.
The PATROL system requires inspection and maintenance every 12 months from the first installation. All components of the fall protection system remain visible, and system servicing, cable inspection and re-tensioning are simple to perform without specialised equipment. This feature reduces inspection time and maintenance costs while ensuring regulatory compliance through simplified procedures.
How to ensure correct cable tension on a long horizontal lifeline
The PATROL horizontal lifeline system uses a double end element serving as both an absorber and tensioner, allowing evenly distributed cable tension even on long lifeline systems with multiple curves. The system automatically compensates for thermal expansion through integrated springs in the SPEAR and SPEAREVO end elements, maintaining correct cable tension over time regardless of temperature variations.
