CLADDING SCREWS AND TONGUE-AND-GROOVE BOARD SCREWS WITH 60° COUNTERSUNK HEAD SHS
SHS cladding screws: small 60° head and 3 THORNS tip for precise insertion without openings in the timber
SHS cladding screws are designed for fastening cladding, tongue-and-groove boards and small timber elements where precision and invisible installation are required. The 60° countersunk head, smaller than on standard screws, is inserted cleanly without creating openings or deformation in the wood, guaranteeing a perfectly clean installation surface.
The Ø3.5 mm version with 3 THORNS tip is ideal for direct application in the gaps between cladding boards, allowing fastening that is invisible to the eye. Also available in diameters 4, 4.5 and 5 mm for applications on greater thicknesses such as wood-based, MDF, HDF, LDF, solid timber, glulam, CLT and LVL panels.
Made from electrogalvanised carbon steel, the SHS screw ensures durability in service classes SC1 and SC2, with resistance to atmospheric corrosivity up to C2. The enlarged Torx drive (TX10 for Ø3.5 – TX25 for Ø4/4.5 – TX30 for Ø5) allows the use of larger bits compared with standard screws, offering greater ease of installation even in awkward positions. The bit is included in the box.
SHS: enlarged Torx drive and 3 THORNS tip for precision and strength in finishing work
Unlike common carpentry screws, the SHS small wood screws feature an enlarged Torx drive: TX25 for 4 and 4.5 mm diameters, TX30 for 5 mm diameters. This allows a higher tightening torque without the risk of bit slippage, guaranteeing strength and precision even in awkward installations or with limited access.
The 3 THORNS tip reduces insertion force and prevents openings or splits in the timber — a critical factor on thin boards, laminated and veneered panels. The characteristic withdrawal resistance values reach up to 3.79 kN for the Ø5×120 mm version on softwood (ε=90°), compliant with ETA-11/0030.
CE ETA-11/0030 and UKTA-0836 22/6195 certified, the SHS timber cladding screws comply with EN 1995:2014 for stratuctural shear and tensile values. Available in lengths from 30 to 120 mm (up to 1000 mm for special uses), they cover a complete application range for fastenings on all main wood-based panels.
How are timber cladding boards fastened without the screws being visible?
The SHS Ø3.5 mm is applied directly in the gap between the cladding boards thanks to the small 60° countersunk head, which slides into the timber without leaving visible openings on the exposed surface.
The 60° geometry of the head is narrower than that of standard screws (82°-90°), allowing insertion into the joints without affecting the exposed surface. The 3 THORNS tip facilitates screwing even on reduced thicknesses, minimising the risk of splits on the edge of the boards.
